| Brighton has always been popular and the place to be, ever since the outrageous Prince Regent built his extravagant Royal Pavilion in the early 1800’s. Nowadays, the town is often known as Little London and is famous for its stunning architecture, its wealth of 'different’ shopping and its innumerable coffee bars and restaurants. Deep in the heart of the city, along the Western Road, you'll find our impressive three floor C & H store where we've been welcoming customers for over 27 years. The store seems at first glance deceptively small with a smaller ground floor compared to the upper two floors. On the ground and first floor our visitors will discover an array of interesting products for their homes and, on the second floor, some wonderful things for themselves. There is a convenient lift operating throughout the store or stairs for our more energetic customers.
Come on to our ground floor and you'll be warmly welcomed by manager Andrea Emery and her team. Here you'll discover a world teeming with richly coloured curtains, ready-made for you to take away or alternatively a made-to-measure service with a ten day turnaround, along with an amazing array of gorgeous cushions to suit. Also on the ground floor you'll be amazed by our hundreds of gorgeous gifts. The perfect prezzie heaven! There's pictures, picture frames, figurines, glass vases, candles, games, puzzles, calendars, memento books.....the list is endless. And if you want some delectable accessories you'll find a huge range of to-die-for handbags here. Come and see our fantastic collection which is probably the best in Brighton and you'll be spoilt for choice. There's also slippers and boots in winter and shoes and sandals in summer, and jewellery all year round.
Come up to our first floor and you'll experience exquisite and exclusive handmade furnishings. Here, every order is expertly crafted to each discerning customer's individual specification. There's an endless choice of sumptuous fabrics, hundreds in stock and literally thousands to order. If you live locally we can organise for one of our consultants to come to your home, measure your windows and discuss with you your particular and unique requirements. From there we can do as much or as little as you want - fitting your tracks and blinds, making, hanging and dressing all your curtains. Call in and speak to Karen Mortimer, the floor manager, or one of her highly experienced team. They'll be pleased to help you select your fabrics and choose your designs. Also on this floor you can choose your curtain tracks and poles - there's every size, shape, colour and diameter and if we don't have the one you want in stock, we can order from the hundreds available on catalogue. There's also a vast array of blinds here, many to take away, in a variety sizes and colours. Roller blinds including blackouts, Venetians in metal and wood, Verticals and Romans as well as many more are available made-to-measure from our many suppliers.
The well-stocked net department boasts an extensive range of net curtaining, both in white and cream, that can be taken home and hung straight away. Also available, by the metre, we have luxurious lace and floaty voiles; loads in stock and even more to order. There are even cafe style nets for that quaint kitchen look and, for those who want something just a bit different, ready made jardinières. And with our in house Net Alteration Service we can create just about any shape, size or colour to your own specific window requirements.
Also on this first floor there's bedding. Duvets and pillows and a range of covers and pillow slips, including the ever popular 100% Egyptian cotton. And towels in a variety of colours. And pretty kitchen tea towels, oven gloves, aprons, tablecloths and PVC coated fabrics by the metre that can be cut to fit the exact shape of your table. Also that necessity, table protector, so very useful when entertaining.
When you feel the need for a rest, drop in and have a break in our welcoming and comfortble coffee shop. Keith Lewry and his team will be pleased to serve you with a range of speciality coffees and teas, freshly made sandwiches, salads, hot lunches and homebaked cakes. Come and see for yourself.
Our second floor is an Aladdin's cave. With knitting yarns and crafts, dress fabrics and patterns and haberdashery. It's definitely for the lady who likes to 'do'. Our wool department keeps stocks all year round of Rowan and Jaeger, Sirdar, Wendy and Twilleys and hundreds of up-to-date patterns for the avid knitter. Our craft department holds thousands of interesting items; sparkly gems and beads for jewellery making, paper, card and 'bits' for card making, scrapbooking, painting for canvas, glass and silk, dolls houses and furniture, daylight lamps and magnifiers, toy felt in a myriad of colours, toy fur, bag handles .... so much more than can ever be mentioned here. Fabulous dress fabrics are always available in a dazzling array of colours and textures. Classic suitings, glamorous eveningwear, extravagant furs, funky fleeces and linens, wools, silks, polycottons, there's dressing-up fabrics, linings - everything the discerning dressmaker could possibly desire. And all the accessories, the threads, zips, buttons, ribbons are available in a host of colours and sizes. And the dull stuff - the elastics, the needles, measuring tapes, unpickers, laundry markers - they're all there and more. Should you need any help with a problem or some advice if you're just starting out, ask manager Angela Homewood or any of her knowledgeable and talented staff, they have a passion for the products and would love to help out.
On the second floor you'll also find two fashion concessions - Eastex and Dash. Their seasonal collection of flexible clothing options are ideally suited to the more mature customer. The wide range of separates manage to combine a casual yet polished look.
So come into C&H Brighton and you'll be assured of a warm welcome and prompt, professional and friendly service from everyone here.
I looking forward to seeing you some time soon.
